UP and Ateneo among Top 500 Universities
This one is rather subjective and is left to be discerned as a matter of publicizing top universities in the world. Whether you believe in local surveys exposing anomalies and corruption in this government, or whether you believe in the methodologies used to rank the world’s happiest nations, this ranking is sure to be greeted with high eyebrows. Anyway, for the record, at least in the eyes of The Times Higher Education Supplement (THES) and Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), University of the Philippines ranked at 398th and Ateneo de Manila University at 451st.

This seems to be a new blog. Are you a US-based Fil-Am? I read a lot of opinions — both logical and irrational — in some other sites and in just a matter of weeks the opinions reached almost a thousand some of them coming from Filipinos abroad and even from the less electronically connected provinces of the south. Unfortunately, some of the opinions posted are more subjective rather than objective and more emotional rather than rational. Therefore, in my simple observation — all of my observations are simple — most of the opinions are colored with false pride and animality which, from the point of view of an intelligent reader, will never pass the usual acceptable standard of a balanced and credible setting for a meaningful dialogue
I think we can start a more reasonable discussion here concerning the topic-in-question by avoiding school bashing just like what’s happening between our froshies in AdMU and DLSU and between some relatively mid-sized Catholic colleges like Letran and San Beda. Jokes should be welcomed but only as long as they do not hurt the usual Filipino sensitivity
