It’s the stupid IQ or it maybe the IQ, stupid! Or so I thought everytime I stumbled upon any written article about giving too much importance to Mensa. While the IQ people are of the logical-mathematical type according to the theory of multiple intelligence, the more important thing is to know thyself. Luckily for Filipino high school students in the country, they may have the tool to assess themselves before embarking on what course to pursue in college with the National Career Assessment Examination (in lieu of the dreaded NCEE). For those unfortunate enough to land even in primary school, don’t despair. The world doesn’t revolve around high IQ achievers. It’s about knowing yourself, doing what you do best and doing what you love with passion.

Of course, in business, knowledge, skills and passion are not enough. As a local blogger noted, "It’s not the brain, it’s the stomach". It’s also about the stomach to take risks and face the consequence.

The need to find a balance between life and work is an everyday pursuit. In our struggle for living, we sometimes forget that there is more to life than just money, IQ and fame. A pat in the back. A small talk. A walk in the park. A text message to your loved ones. The best things in life are free. For everything else, there’s MasterCard…. *oops*. This is not an endorsement of a card.
